Walking across the Tarmac at our small airport and glancing up at the plane, I spotted the pilot in the tip of the cockpit. He looked awfully small to be able to maneuver the large plane across the country. I have never been able to understand the dynamics of how a plane can become airborne and stay in the sky going to a particular destination without complications or danger, yet I still choose to put my trust in someone I don't know and in an object that I don't understand to take me to my destination. Millions of people do the same thing each and every day. Many of these same trusting people refuse another important area of trust. They refuse to trust the Creator of this wonderfully amazing universe where we live. They refuse to believe that there is a God who cares about our lives. Last Saturday, I put total trust in 2 men I had never met along with a cable, and two large metal clips, a cloth harness, a plastic helmet and a funny little sliding metal piece. Not much to it, but I flung myself off of a cliff trusting that the men knew what they were doing and that the negligible equipment would hold me high above the plunging valley 200 feet beneath me. I went zip lining thr ough Wolcott’s beautiful Alkali Creek Canyon on one of the top 10 rated courses in the world. I started off with the backwards trust fall, rode tandem with a buddy and ended the sixth phase by gliding over 1000 feet through the air at approximately 30 miles an hour. From the first moment to the last it was a fun filled afternoon with a great group of women, each pushing ourselves to new limits, trying things that took us out of our comfort zones and coming away feeling empowered. A pain in the neck...that's what I've had for the past couple of months. And I don't mean a person or a situation but a literal pain in my neck. I'm not exactly sure how I got it. It could have been when I fell off my bike in the summer or maybe the way I sleep or even too much time at the computer. Whatever it was it has caused me pain when I turn my neck a certain way. A friend recommended a chiropractor, but I was not really sure about it, so I waited for a few more weeks until I simply had to do something to relieve the pain. The dull nagging pain had to stop. After filling in the necessary paperwork, I was told by the receptionist to enjoy the treatment. She said, "You will love it." Then I was guided to a dimly lit room with spa like music being played.
