Memorial Day—a day to remember the men and women who gave their lives serving our country. It is a day to stop and reflect on what people that I have never met have done for me. Many of those who served our country valiantly were so young that they never fully enjoyed living themselves. We are blessed to live in a great country that allows us to have freedoms that are not enjoyed in other places. Yet these freedoms have come at a price. That high price is the lives of our men in women in the military who were not afraid to die for what they believed in--our country. Last year when I had the opportunity to travel to France, the highlight of my trip was being able to visit Normandy, the spot where our troops went ashore during World War II, which ultimately led to winning the war. As my husband and I put our feet into the cool water we were in awe of the moment. Well it seems it is finally springtime in the Rockies. For some people that might seem a bit strange because they have already experienced summer temperatures and weather, but here in the mountains of Colorado it is just arriving. Spring is a glorious time of year where within a few hours we can experience a blinding snowstorm in the morning, blue skies and 70 degree temperatures by noon and a gray gloomy afternoon. If you don’t think that is possible, we experienced all of that in just one day this week. In my mind, spring is a time of hope, since the short, cold days of winter have ended. The splendor of flowers popping out of the earth, fresh green grass, and aspen leaves bursting forth all shout out that there is new life. The sounds of spring from the children playing in the neighborhood to the roaring of the lawnmowers always cause me to remember the days of my youth. And then there are the smells that go along with this time of year, such as the delicate smell of the lilacs and
