How quickly we forget the total dependence that a newborn baby has on its parents. The helpless child can do nothing without the assistance of someone else. Unlike the horse which can stand just moments after it birth, and the duck that can swim hours after arriving in this world, a baby is helpless. Yes, each baby is born with the instinct to suck and can move basic parts of its body, but the infant would quickly die without someone to meet its every need. As Christians when we first come to know Jesus as our Savior, we feel completely dependent on Him. We don't know exactly what we should do, or how we should act or what to say, so we rely heavily on Him to show us through His word or a sermon or another person. As we grown in our faith, we become more comfortable and confident in that relationship and begin to spread our wings a bit. Sometimes we even become self-reliant and lose that former dependence. My daughter is having the long awaited baby. After her many health issues and previous miscarriages “our” baby should be born on or before January 8 th . There have been prayer after prayer offered on his behalf. There have been doctor’s appointments, and more doctor’s appointments. There has been healthy eating taking place. There was a list of items needed and a baby shower held, with wonderful items, some specially made, some fun and others practical that were given. The nursery is completed and the rocking chair has been slipcovered. Now we wait for the precious arrival with the planning and preparations finished. Several years ago I was sitting in Las Vegas with one of my co-workers when a deep conversation ensued around the topic of evolution versus creation. This young man was telling me how he thought the world had come into being, explaining his big bang/cell evolution theory. That’s not exactly the way I believe it happened and since I had just been teaching a Bible study on the first chapter of Genesis, I was armed and ready for him.  My rebuttal for his hypothesis was that if everything on this planet evolved from one cell, I could possibly accept that one bunny rabbit might have evolved by chance, but what I could never accept is that another bunny rabbit of the opposite sex would have developed at exactly the same time in exactly the same place, so that they could then mate and produce other little bunnies, so how could I ever accept the fact that the same thing happened with every mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian, plant, tree, etc?  The only thing I have to do is loo...
