Moving Day
It’s moving day in Houston. The Murphys are moving into a new neighborhood and I have been here to assist with the packing. This is a bittersweet move for the family. They have great friends and neighbors that they hate to be leaving behind, but will be moving into an area that has an outstanding public school where Will and Molly will be going in the future. As we pack the boxes, the memories abound, so we smile as we look at the mementos from this special place. We laugh as we think of the fun recollections in this home from births to parties and even the aftermath of a hurricane. And we get a little teary eyed ….. Yes, if a house could talk, this one would have some great stories from the past four years.
We cannot know what the future will be for this home, but we will try to leave it filled with all of the blessings possible. We walk through the house, into each and every room and we pray for the family who will be moving in. The living room is first and we pray for the people who will enter the house to visit, that there will be many friends and family members who will gather here for special times. We pray in the kitchen that there will be great times of fellowship and laughter that will take place as healthy meals are being prepared. In the dining room we ask God to allow the family to be brought close through the times around the table and that their conversations will be filled with love and encouragement. In the study we pray that God will be with the owners and help them in their careers and finances to be good stewards of the money He gives to them. In the bedrooms we request that God will allow the parents to cherish and honor each other and that the children who will be born in this place be healthy and strong and that in these rooms they will be blessed with rest. In the playroom we pray that the children will come to know the Lord at an early age and will be brought up to be men and women of character. And finally we ask God to bless the entire house and all who live and visit here.
Thank you Lord for the wonderful gifts you have bestowed on our family in this place. And now it is time to leave this house for the last time, because we have more praying to do. The new house must be covered in petitions now. Some will be similar in nature, but others will be more specific, after all we know the needs of our own family more intimately than the other.
1 Timothy 2:1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.
