Ominous Clouds

Image
The ominous gray clouds seemed to hug the earth in front of my car. While the rain had not yet started, it would for sure happen before long. Ugh...another afternoon of rain. September is supposed to be the driest month in our area of Colorado, but that was not the pattern last month. As I evaluated the clouds before me I realized that although the storm clouds hung low, there were the fluffy bright white clouds of promise high and even more prevailing just above them. And even higher and still more prevalent in the distance was the beautiful blue sky towering above. To me the gray clouds represent the storms we face, but the higher clouds seemed to say that the storms won't last forever...that better days are ahead. God is good to give us a little glimpse of hope when things seem to be going wrong. So if your life is not perfect, great or is downright awful, remember that God is faithful and trustworthy working to bring something good just beyond the storm. P...

What Do You See in the Clouds?

Image
Do you remember lying in the grass as a child looking up at the clouds trying to discover the different shapes hiding in the white fluffy puffs high in the sky? Perhaps you were able to spot a fish or a heart or maybe a rabbit floating across the expanse of blue. The downy cumulus clouds looking like cotton balls and the wispy cirrus clouds along with the dark thunder clouds are fascinating to watch. They are continually changing, moving and evolving with every sweep of the wind. My focus has changed over the years from looking for shapes in the clouds to looking for a person in the sky. That person is Jesus Christ. We are told in the Bible that one day Jesus will return in the clouds to take His people home. So when I am outside or driving in the car and notice a beautiful setting in the sky, my thoughts long for Jesus to return. It’s a fun exercise to imagine which cloud formation will be the one where He chooses to return.  Will it be in a blanket of clouds covering the sky w...

Are You Ready?

Image
This morning a young man stopped by my desk and asked me if I was ready for the rapture tomorrow. Interested in finding out more about him and his beliefs, I asked him what he was talking about. He then began telling about the group of people who believe that on Saturday, May 21 st around dinner time (I’m not sure which time zone!), Jesus will return in the clouds to take all who believe in Him to heaven. My co-worker then began mocking the theory by saying that he was going to put on his aluminum foil outfit and put his dog on a leash, so he would not be taken up to heaven.  Now don’t get me wrong. I do believe that one day the rapture will happen and Jesus will return for me and everyone else who has accepted His blood as payment for their sin, but I do not believe that we can pinpoint a specific day for the return of Christ, since Jesus states in Matthew 24:36: “No one know s about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son , but only the Father.” As t...

Well, it happened to me just last night. A friend had sent me the wonderful picture that you see here. Along with this paragraph: Bob Frew sent this out. "I took this picture on Interstate 20, traveling to Leeds, AL. It has given me strength in the times of trouble. I feel I should share it with the rest of the world. I hope it is an inspiration to you. It just goes to show what we already know...We have a God, and he's watching over us. I e-mailed this picture to News Channel Fox 6. I was contacted by Meteorologist James Spann. He said that this picture of the sky is showing up in all states and around the world. He wanted to know where I was from and where I took it...
