Top 10 New Years Resolutions

It seems that on every Top 10 New Years Resolution List there are always similar items. They may be worded a bit differently or they may be in a slightly different order, but almost all of them include:
  1. Lose weight
  2. Stop smoking
  3. Drink less alcohol
  4. Exercise more
  5. Learn something new
  6. Get out of debt
  7. Enjoy life more
  8. Get organized
  9. Help others
  10. Get a new job
All of the resolutions on this list are good things. We should try to get healthy, improve relationships and manage our money better, but I think something might be missing. There is nothing regarding our spiritual life, so I would like to make a recommendation--this year, why don’t we include some additional items to our list such as:
  • Memorize 12 scriptures, one a month
  • Pray for friends, family and even strangers
  • Give expecting nothing in return
  • Read through the Bible
  • Join a Bible study
  • Serve in your church and your community
  • Spend time with people you love
  • Adopt a child through Compassion International and make the difference of a lifetime
  • Determine your God given passion and pursue it
  • Love unconditionally
If we live this way during 2011 our lives would be enriched along with the lives of those around us. Will you participate in this experiment with me?

Let me know what additional things should be added to the list.

Romans 14:19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

Look for the people in need and love the unlovable
Your suggestion to love the unlovable is a fabulous one. God gave me those instructions years ago with a group of students. I had to "kill them with kindness" and God changed their hearts.
