When my children were young and visiting the area, we would take the gondola up the mountain to the observation deck at Eagle’s Nest for the perfect view of the majestic Mount of the Holy Cross. So when my grandchildren were visiting this summer, it seemed natural to take them to the same spot for old times’ sake.
The mountain had not changed and the view was still inspiring, but something was terribly wrong. The name on the sign at Eagle’s Nest had been changed. It was no longer labeled Mount of the Holy Cross, but instead has been replaced with the designation Cross of Snow. Why would that be done? To be politically correct? To try to remove the holiness from the cross? To try not to offend someone of a different faith? Well, I am offended--why can’t my Savior’s cross be called holy? If America can allow every other faith to be recognized and given honor, why can’t Christians have some respect also? Our country has gone to an extreme to be inclusive of every religion but in the process, Christians have become the ones who are being persecuted and wronged. I am tired of it—are you?
Philippians 3:18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
