Indian Evidence
Have you ever been on an Indian hunt with a 6 year old, a 5 year old and an almost 4 year old? Well it has become one of the highlights of my summer over the last couple of years. It all started last summer when my grandson Will and my next door neighbor Jackson wanted to climb on the berm that encircles my neighborhood. We created an adventure by hiking up the steep incline by grabbing onto weeds and wedging our feet on rocks to make it to the top. Once we arrived at the summit we began spying for Indians since the boys had been told that there were lots of Indians in Colorado.
This year little Molly wanted to join in the fun and the activity was expanded because we began looking for real clues of who had been there before us. On our adventure we saw evidence of cool things like:
- Snail shells
- Tree stumps
- Deer poop
- Half eaten flowers
- Dynamite ( it was really just sprinkler heads)
- Bear claw marks on trees
- Flattened grassy areas that had been a resting spot for deer, foxes or perhaps even bears
We tromped through grass that was taller than the kids, we climbed through barbed wire fences, we explored the railroad tracks and skipped rocks on the river in our pursuit of Indians. Although we didn’t find any Native Americans we did have an afternoon filled with fun, looking for evidence of our predecessors.
I really didn’t expect to find any concrete evidence of days gone by, because I knew the truth, but the kids investigated every little detail of our adventure.
Jesus has left us plenty of evidence regarding His existence and what He has done for us including:
- The beauty of creation
- The order of the universe
- The Bible telling of our history and God’s part in it
- The New Testament telling about His life and teachings
- The Holy Spirit who teaches us if we are willing
Yes…the evidence is there, but we must search diligently for it and analyze it to see what it means. Are you willing to explore with your Creator and let Him reveal Himself to you?
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
