My friend
was telling about her daughter’s summer fun with her grandparents at Sea Island,
Georgia. She said that although she missed her while she was gone, this year
was better than last year because her daughter was able to describe all of the
experiences of her day during the daily phone conversations.
She went on by saying that last year when she would call there was silence on the other end of the phone because her daughter didn't know what to say. After coaching her to just pretend that her mom is sitting right next to her and talk to her in that way the conversations have improved. The telephone shouldn't make a difference in the conversations that they are having.
Many people are fearful of praying because they don't know what to say, but the same principle can be used. Talk to God just as you would a friend or loved one just like you were sitting together. Talk about your day, your likes and dislikes, your hopes and dreams, your pains and heartaches, your joys and sorrows. Tell Him why you care about Him and why you are thankful. God knows us better than we know ourselves, so we can’t really hide anything from Him, so be honest with Him.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
