Journey of a Lifetime

Where do you start when trying to write about a trip of a lifetime? When you have finally been able to check off your biggest bucket list item what can you say that can adequately put it into words?

In three words I would have to say it is the moments, the places and the people.

The moments along the 12 day journey were incredible, whether it was an “aha” moment, a spiritual moment or a moment of reflection.

The places we visited were unbelievable, including a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, Megiddo where we viewed the valley where the troops will gather for the final battle of Armageddon, and of course all of the special spots throughout Jerusalem.

The people who were encountered will be remembered for a lifetime, including my wonderful roommate Doris, the little boy with the donkey selling treasures for $1, the Chinese woman who had prayed she would meet some English speaking people that day and all of the people who were in our tour group and graciously shared their life stories with me.

Over the next week or so I will try to capture a few of the special moments so that you can experience a little bit of Israel without leaving your home.

Deuteronomy 8:6-9 Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him. For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land--a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey; a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.
