Moving Messes

Moving will expose many things, including: How much stuff you can accumulate in a short amount of time How much you have aged since the last time you did it How much your toe can hurt when you kick one of the many boxes stacked around How bad your attitude can be when things don’t go exactly as planned And maybe most of all how much dirt can be found underneath things that seemed clean on the surface Recently as furniture was moved, dust was discovered. When carpets were rolled up, dirt was left behind. With nothing else to look at the glass revealed the smudges, fingerprints and water spots. I think I’m pretty clean, but beneath the surface, things didn’t look so good. My life can be much the same. On the surface I might look all right, even like I have it all together and live a pretty good Christian life, but if I really take the time to examine deeper it’s not always so pretty. And if it ask God to reveal to me the sin in my heart, it can get downright ugly

woohoo or WOOHOO?

Surprise was my reaction when finding out that a certain co-worker had been spotted visiting my church on Sunday morning. I had been out of town, but a friend had seen him and asked him to sit with her. Excited to see him a few days later and let him know how happy I was that he had been there was met with a letdown. He said he won't go back because he saw too many people that he dealt with in his job and wanted church and work to be separate. He informed me that he usually went to a different church in the area and then added in a monotone voice, "I'm a Christian. Woohoo." His lack of enthusiasm led me to be excited for him as I exclaimed with gusto, "Yes indeed WOOHOO!" We should be excited about our faith. After all the God of the Universe has chosen us to be a part of His own family at no cost to us. He paid it all and then openly invited us. Do you show excitement or are you lackluster in your faith?
